How do we teach?

# Systematic and cumulative
The literacy components are taught step by step, from easier to more difficult and one concept builds on another. Ample opportunities are provided for students to respond and practise what they are learning. This facilitates automatic and fluent application of language knowledge to reading for meaning.
# Explicit
Direct instruction is applied in the teaching of important foundational skills such as decoding and spelling, as well as higher-level aspects of literacy such as syntax, reading comprehension, and text composition.
# Overlearning
Struggling readers often require additional time to develop automaticity in literacy. The instruction allows overlearning rather than frequently introducing additional ideas and explanations to ensure the learner has mastered the skills genuinely.
# Multisensory
We incorporate elements of all the modalities (Visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile) to build brain pathways that connect speech with print. Multisensory strategy is adopted not only when teaching phonics but also other language skills.
